Formed in 1981, Metallica has remained a driving force in the heavy metal genre. Founding members James Hetfield (vocals and guitar) and Lars Ulrich (drums) have led the band to global fame, with guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo rounding out the current lineup. The band’s fast tempos, intricate instrumentals, and raw energy established them as one of the “big four” thrash metal bands, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer.

Metallica’s breakthrough came with their third album, Master of Puppets (1986), widely regarded as one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Over the years, they’ve evolved, releasing the commercially successful Metallica (1991), known as “The Black Album,” and returning to their thrash roots with Death Magnetic (2008). Their latest album, 72 Seasons (2023), continues to showcase their iconic sound.
